Program Overview

What is Caregiver University?

Caregiver University is a free, ongoing virtual program thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of those who dedicate their lives to caring for loved ones with mental illness. Whether you are a spouse, parent, sibling, or friend, being a caregiver often comes with challenges that can feel overwhelming and isolating. This program was created to provide a supportive environment where caregivers can gain the skills, tools, and emotional resilience needed to navigate their unique roles.

Under the guidance of Dr. Nathan Fite, Caregiver University combines expert-led sessions with practical resources to empower caregivers in their journey. The program recognizes that caregiving is a deeply personal experience, and it aims to address the emotional, mental, and logistical challenges that come with this responsibility.

Participants in Caregiver University will gain insights into evidence-based strategies, explore tools for self-care, and build a network of community support. The program emphasizes the importance of not only caring for your loved one but also making time to care for yourself—because caregivers who prioritize their well-being are better equipped to provide effective and sustainable support to others.

By offering twice-monthly virtual sessions, Caregiver University provides a flexible and accessible way for caregivers to connect and learn. Each session is tailored to address the realities of caregiving, offering practical advice, actionable insights, and a safe space to share experiences and ask questions.

Caregiver University isn’t just about managing caregiving challenges—it’s about helping you thrive in your role, find a balance between empathy and boundaries, and discover the strength to lead a fulfilling life alongside your caregiving responsibilities. This program is here to remind caregivers that they are not alone and that there is hope, help, and a community to walk with them every step of the way.

  • Why The Anxiety Center
The Anxiety Center is a remarkable place in that it believes that its employees are its most valuable asset. Our center was developed by clinicians and for clinicians for the benefit our patients. While working here you will find a warm and fun-filled environment where you are challenged to deliver the best in behavioral healthcare to children and adults, while also striking work/life balance. We know you are at your best when you are validated in the workplace, given the tools to suceed, and encounter real growth potential. Our staff is uniquely positioned to promote deep and lasting change in their patients through our evidence-based programming and ongoing treatment innovations.
  • Treatment Programs
Our center runs four separate programs. The first is our assessment program which conducts neuropsychological, psychoeducational, executive functioning, and autism evaluations. We focus on delivering accurate, timely, and accessible reports written for the family and directly linked to the child's or adult's intervention needs. Secondly, we have an anxiety program which treats the full range of anxiety and OC spectrum disorders. Treatment protocols in the anxiety clinic are heavily based on current research in exposure therapy, but include other cognitive behavioral strategies based on the individual needs of the patient. Thirdly, we have a mood disorders program which treats depressive disorders, bipolar spectrum disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, suicidality and self-harm. Treatment in our mood program focuses on core CBT, mindfulness-based treatment, and behavioral activation. The level of integration of each facet depends on the child's needs and response to treatment. Finally, our co-occurring behavior program will take on cases of oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, ADHD, and autism related agression and social skills development. This program is grounded in behavior analysis with moderate integration of cognitive techniques when indicated. While we do welcome all applicants, it will be important to consider if our approach to treatment is a good match for your interest and skill set. We value the contributions of all those in the mental health field, but one of our core values is to deliver treatment that is firmly established in scientific research. If this value is in aligment with the way that you approach treatment and you are willing to engage in harnassing your skills in empirical treatment, then we believe you may be an incredible asset to our team.
  • Professional Development
Just as The Anxiety Center is committed to excellence in treatment, we are also equally committed to continuous improvement and staying on the forefront of advances in the field. Every clinician in our center takes part in ongoing collaborative supervision and embedded professional development that leverages the combined expertise of our staff. Additionally, The Anxiety Center supports professional development beyond our four walls that enhances the lifelong learning for all staff. Professional development for our team is extensive and takes place in United States and around the world through: 1. Self-directed learning 2. In-house didactics and supervision 3. Conferences, workshop, courses, and institutes 4. Site visits at other facilities 5. Responsive training based upon clinician and patient feedback
  • Living in the Midwest (Cincinnati, Dayton and Indianapolis)
each of our locations are vibrant, dynamic, and cosmopolitan cities in the heart of the midwest. These midwestern cities offer a unique balance in providing large city amenities and affordability. As you explore, them you will find that they are sprinkled with lush green parks, scenic walkways, and historical architecture. When you are out on the town you will find no lack of amenities, including museums, centers for the arts, and top tier athletics. They also have a burgeoning food scene and abundance of micro breweries scattered throughout the cities. If you have family, you will find beautiful close knit suburban communities right outside the urban core that have some of highest performing schools in the state. Maybe most importantly, Cincinnati Dayton and Indianapolis are welcoming cities that anyone can call home.
