Our Approach

At The Anxiety Center, we offer a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to treating eating disorders, tailored to each patient's needs. For Anorexia Nervosa, we use the Maudsley approach, a family-based treatment empowering parents to help their child regain weight and establish normal eating patterns, emphasizing family involvement. For Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder, we utilize Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-E), a structured therapy addressing the cognitive patterns and behaviors sustaining the disorder. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is integrated to help patients manage emotional dysregulation, teaching skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. For Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), we use the SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) program, modifying parental behaviors to reduce the child's food-related anxiety. Nutrition support is crucial throughout treatment, with our dietitians developing balanced meal plans to meet nutritional needs. Interventions include individual and group therapy, family therapy, and medication management, with options such as antidepressants or antipsychotics to address co-occurring conditions like anxiety or depression. Our holistic, multidisciplinary approach ensures comprehensive care, fostering lasting recovery by addressing the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of eating disorders.
